The irreverent sequel to Sadie Kaye‘s AIB award-winning 2015 documentary Bipolar Express is now completed and airs for the first time on RTHK July 13, 2019 at 8.30. As Bad As It Gets shines a spotlight on the lives of an eclectic mix of artists and professionals who secretly or openly struggle with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Guests include showman Mat Ricardo, artist-activist Charlotte Farhan, poet Neil Hilborne, lovable locksmith Billy Archer, and psychiatrist Dr. Barry Connell. In a nod to the Jack Nicholson movie As Good As It Gets, the 30-minute doc is cheekily titled As Bad As It Gets.
This is the second doc Sadie has produced & presented for RTHK about mental health subjects. Her first, Bipolar Express, was Highly Commended by the Association for International Broadcasting at the 2015 AIBs in London.
For those of you who miss it, you’ll still be able to download the show as a podcast here, on the RTHK website and in all the usual podcast places (Apple, Spotify, etc.) The doc will be shortly followed by the launch of the Mental Ideas Podcast on RTHK, a new 10-episode podcast series exploring innovative approaches to tackling mental health in an entertaining and irreverent way.
